#MeetTheStaffMonday Bronagh

This #MeetTheStaffMonday we are meeting Bronagh!

“Hi! My name is Bronagh and I’m a Senior Site/Post Excavation Assistant at CAT – I’ve been here for four years now with my first site being the Mercury Theatre. Being both site and post-excavation staff means you can find me both on site and in the office – either way I’ll likely be covered in mud! 🙈

The main thing I do at CAT is oversee our environmental sampling which can be a really wet and muddy job but can produce some really fascinating information about the past environments on sites that we’re working on👀

One of my favourite finds since I’ve been doing the environmental sampling is some grape seeds that were found in the stomach area of a Roman face down burial on an excavation near to Colchester. Face down burials were seen to be disrespectful so it could be that this individual was a criminal or someone else rejected by society. The grape seeds give us a really interesting look into this persons final meal! I think I’d rather have some cake!🍰

Outside of work I’m a huge pokémon nerd, cross stitch queen and general crafty lady!”
