As an educational charity, public outreach is at the forefront of everything we do. We are keen to teach as many people as possible about archaeology and Colchester’s Roman Circus, to help them better engage with the subject and their local area.

School group talk

School Visits

We offer a visit to the Roman Circus Visitor Centre for school groups (up to 40 pupils, with an ideal ratio 5 pupils per adult). This tends to last around 120 minutes, and includes a talk from a Roman lady about life in Roman Colchester, and the Roman Circus, a quiz, time for Q&As, free-time to explore the Centre, and a race at the Circus’ starting gates! Our presentation can be adapted to particular curriculum needs. Monday visits are ideal as the centre is closed to the public then, but groups are welcome every week day, but can take place during the rest of the week too.

from £160 plus VAT for a 2-hour session

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Roman Circus Walk is a narrow residential road. Groups travelling by coach will need to arrange an alternative drop-off and pick-up location.
