“In my week with Colchester Archaeological Trust, I have learned so many different things about archaeology🧐
Monday I learnt about the Romans, the past of Colchester and what Roman Colchester would have looked like. I got to clean pottery, animal bones and other historic finds also learning how to box finds, I also learned what happens to the boxes filled with finds.
On Tuesday I went to a school and helped children interact with finds. I watched as they enjoyed the finds found underneath there school, learn about; the Romans, the history of Colchester, and what archaeology has to offer.
Wednesday I got to excavate a Roman skull which was very difficult to do👀
Thursday I got to see the archaeological site that was being dug on, and learnt what had been done and what was left to do. I also saw the public displays in the the Roman Circus Visitor Centre that teach the public about their homes’ history.
Overall this week has been an amazing experience witch I am very grateful I got to experience. It has shown me what archaeology has to offer and what to expect going forward. I am very thankful for what I have learned😄”
