On Tuesday (26th January), the Trust’s 34th AGM (Annual General Meeting) was held in the meeting-room here at Roman Circus House. It was attended by a large number of members of the Trust’s Council of Management and Trust director Philip. The meeting was chaired by Nick Wickenden (the head of Chelmsford Museum Services), who is chairman of the Council of Management, and he was assisted by company secretary John Mallinson (of the Colchester Archaeological Group). Trust senior archaeologist Howard Brooks took the minutes. The Council of Management convenes for a quarterly meeting, three times a year, and the AGM is the grand annual meeting and the first of the year. At the AGM this week, Philip presented a report on the work of the Trust during the previous year and discussed the year ahead, including our continuing plans for the Roman circus centre. In February 2015, the Trust celebrated its 50th anniversary – we survived that, and we’re flourishing!

The image is our logo. This is, by sheer coincidence, a design of a Roman racing-chariot with four horses and charioteer. We adopted it as our logo many years before we discovered the site of the Roman circus in Colchester.
