Saturday 17th May 2014 – Canterbury day-trip

We will be leaving from outside Greyfriars Hotel at 8.30 am for a visit to Canterbury with a guided tour of St Augustine’s Abbey, founded around AD 597, and the Anglo-Saxon Church of St Martin which is about a quarter of a mile away, with Mike Corbishley. At the Abbey there is a museum and a shop which provides hot and cold drinks and food. You will then be free to explore the town. There are several historic buildings and monuments, notably the cathedral and the Roman museum. The Canterbury Information Centre may be found in the Beaney Art Museum and Library, which is worth a visit in itself. The coach will leave Canterbury at 4 pm and we hope to arrive back in Colchester at about 6 pm. The cost will be £23.50 per member.

More details and booking forms are available from Brenda May.
