#MeetTheStaffMonday Sam

Happy #MeetTheStaffMonday! Today we’re going to meeting Sam!

“Salve! I’m Samantha and you will find usually find me in the Roman Circus Visitor Centre.

I began volunteering for the Trust as a tour guide in 2016, taking up the post of Education and Outreach Manager four years ago. As well as conducting guided tours, hosting school and group visits , organising talks and events (amongst many other tasks), I keep busy developing and promoting the Visitor Centre📈

I am a Classical Studies graduate from the Open University, and a Romanist at heart. I enjoy being a member of the Colchester Roman Society, a living history / re-enactment group and my Roman character, ‘Antonia Augusta’, often appears in replica Roman garb on Open Days and special occasions.

When not at work I am usually either reading, gardening, or singing Latin choral works. My annual leave is often spent visiting Roman sites, Herculaneum being a favourite destination✈️”
