#FindsFriday Complete vessel

For this week’s #FindsFriday we have a lovely vessel from a recent site in Colchester👀

Here we have a complete Roman bowl. It is made out of black-surfaced ware 1, which dates to the early Roman period (AD 43-120)🏺

The first interesting feature of this bowl (other than it being near complete) is the small, circular hole punched into it’s side. This could be some kind of ritual destruction, made on purpose🧐

The base of the bowl is scratched with graffiti which could possibly be the owner’s mark (or an abbreviated version).
