Yesterday (26th April), the Colchester Young Archaeologists Club (YAC) met at Roman Circus House for their April session.
Colchester YAC organiser Barbara Butler writes: ‘… We extended our time-line up to the 21st century. The Mesolithic and Neolithic periods covered one A1 board. The scale of 1 cm to 100 years means that the line on the second board only reaches to just over half-way. We cut out pictures to illustrate the Bronze Age and Iron Age and the Roman invasion of Britain. Trust archaeologist Howard Brooks had found some Iron Age pottery fragments for us, and we drew these. Then we made Iron Age huts out of printed card and we made plasticine people and animals to live in them …’
The next Colchester YAC meeting is on Saturday 17th May, at Roman Circus House.
The images show some of the Young Archaeologists at work yesterday, and a look inside one of their Iron Age huts.
