This week, the Colchester and Ipswich Museums Service posted some upcoming events on their web-site, including ‘Castle revealed’. Colchester Castle Musuem is closed to the public from January 2013 until Easter 2014 but, in March 2013, there are four days on which the castle will be open to the public – and it is a unique opportunity to see inside the castle keep with all its displays removed.
The ‘Castle revealed’ open days are on the 10th, 14th, 24th and 29th March, 10.00am-5.00pm.
‘… A chance to see the castle empty of museum displays, so you can marvel at its architectural splendour! Guided tours available.
£2 entry, £1.50 concessions …’
Also, on the 25th-26th March, students from Colchester Institute will be performing Shakespeare’s play “Julius Caesar” in the castle: performances are on Monday 25th March at 7.30pm, and on Tuesday 26th March at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 each, £6.50 for students. Tickets available from the Visitor Information Centre, on 01206 282920, from February.
