For this weeks #MeetTheStaffMonday we’re going to be meeting our Post-Excavation manager, Laura!

“As Post-Excavation Manager at the Colchester Archaeological Trust it is my job to mange everything that happens on an archaeological project after we leave site, with lots of help from a lovely post-excavation team. 🎉

Aside from my managerial role I am one of CAT’s principal report writers and the small finds specialist.

I have an undergraduate degree in Ancient History and Archaeology and masters in Museum Studies. I began by career in archaeology at CAT, where I worked for 6 years as a field archaeologist on numerous sites in and around Colchester.

I later decided that the field was not for me (or more importantly my back👀), and I made a move to the Royal Cornwall Museum. Museum roles then took to Brading Roman Villa on the Isle of Wight, the York Archaeological Trust and then the Grosvenor Museum in Chester where I was Keeper of Archaeology. I have been back at CAT for almost 8 years now and, when asked, refer to myself as an ‘indoor archaeologist’.

In my spare time I enjoy yoga, pilates and walking in the countryside, especially if it includes a tea and cake stop along the way.🍰”
