21 to 31 (odd) Nos 31A, 31B & 31C LEXDEN ROAD (north side) – (St Mary’s Terrace East)

Grade II.
1837 built by Henry Hammond Hayward. Terrace of grey gault brick houses, 3 storeys and basements. 11 window range of double hung sashes with glazing bars. Each end of the front breaks forward under a pediment and the centre front (3 window range) breaks forward with parapet, Ionic doorcase. Bands between the storeys. Additions at west end.

[Henry Daniel Bland, gent., was living at 1 St Mary’s Terrace West in 1835 and 1845 and until his death in 1851. He was a Colchester Alderman 1836-1841 (JBBBD).] [The Misses Coleman were living at 6 St Mary’s Terrace in 1898; they were members of the Essex Field Club.]
