Archaeological evaluation on land south of Stortford Road, Little Canfield, Essex, CM6 1SN: June 2026

An archaeological evaluation (nine trial-trenches) was carried out on land south of Stortford Road,
Little Canfield, Essex in advance of the construction of a nursery, soft play area, swimming pool, café
and learning spaces. The site is located adjacent to the route of Stane Street, a Roman road, and to
the south of archaeological remains identified during the construction of the A120. No archaeological
finds or features were uncovered during the work.
