Archaeological evaluation at 19 North Road, Tollesbury, Essex, CM9 8RQ: October 2025

An archaeological evaluation (four trial-trenches) was carried out at 19 North Road, Tollesbury, Essex,
in advance of the construction of four dwellings. The site is located to the north of the historic
settlement of Tollesbury and close to a Roman settlement and cremation cemetery. The evaluation
revealed a medieval or medieval/post-medieval pit, modern pit, medieval/post-medieval post-hole,
post-medieval/modern post-hole and modern fence post.
