“Circus Maximus: Race to the Death”

The book is set in the world of the Circus Maximus, a massive stadium in ancient Rome where chariot races were held.

Dido, the main character, is a 12-year-old who dreams of becoming a charioteer. She has a special connection with horses, particularly a wild stallion named Porcellus.

Chariot racing is a dangerous sport, and Dido’s ambition is forbidden because she is a girl. She faces prejudice and obstacles from those who believe girls should not participate in such a masculine activity.

Dido’s life takes a dramatic turn when her father, a horse trainer, is murdered. She must leave Rome and find refuge, but she is determined to return and pursue her dream, even in the face of adversity.

The book explores themes of determination, courage, and fighting for one’s dreams, even when faced with societal barriers and prejudice.
